The true Christian hates sin,
flees from it,
fights against it,
considers it his greatest plague,
resents the burden of its presence,
mourns when he falls under its influence,
and longs to be completely delivered from it.
- J. C. Ryle
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I John 1:8-9
Thank You, Lord, that you are a God who forgives, a God who heals, and a God who restores.
May we pray like the Psalmist when he was utterly overwhelmed and repentant of his own sin ... "Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to Your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."
For You are a God who extends mercy and grace to Your children. Even when we deserve neither.
