I want the one that comes with GRACE!

Pride is the oldest and most common of sins.
Humility is the rarest and most beautiful of graces.

This is a wonderful quote!
And there is plenty of Scripture to support it!

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. Proverbs 11:2

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. Proverbs 29:23

Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished. Proverbs 16:5

Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6

For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Galatians 6:3

Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips. Proverbs 27:2

It is not good to eat much honey, nor is it glorious to seek one's own glory. Proverbs 25:27

When we look at pride through God's eyes, it is most repulsive.
What is paired with this grievous sin?
- disgrace
- destruction
- falling
- being an abomination to the Lord
- being opposed by God
- deception

Who wants to be known as such a person?
To be known as a man or woman of humility, however, is a reputation to be desired and pursued.

The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.
I Peter 15:33

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you. James 4:10

Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. I Peter 3:8

He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble His way. Psalm 25:9

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Philippians 2:3

Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you. I Peter 5:5, 6

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8

The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked to the ground. Psalm 147:6

Humility, when observed through the eyes of the Lord is a beautiful thing indeed!
And unlike the unattractive pairings of pride, humility is linked with:
- honor
- grace
- being lead by God in His ways
- being lifted up by the Lord

May we pray as the Psalmist did, "Search me, O God, and know my heart," so He can find and remove any pride lurking within us, destroy it, and replace it with the humility that brings His grace.
