Honoring Dennis - on Father's Day.

Hear, O sons, a father's instruction,
and be attentive, that you may gain insight,
for I give you good precepts;
do not forsake my teaching. Proverbs 4:1-2

Dennis lives out this passage for our children.
Not because of his own wisdom, insight, or teaching, but because he fills the minds of our children with God's precepts - the only precepts that matter.

He fills journals with notes that detail how the Lord is working in his heart and mind and dedicates each one to a child.
He sends them letters every week with biblical truths, personal anecdotes, and applicable lessons to help them focus their thinking on Scripture and draw their minds to the only thing on which they should keep their focus - CHRIST.
He shares story after story about his childhood, his teen and young adult years, and his current life as a grown man to teach them what to do, and what not to do.
When he comes across a quote or a response to a verse from a godly man he quickly passes it on to our children so they too might be encouraged and challenged and convicted to realign their thoughts, actions, and attitudes with those of Christ.
When he fails them, and when he sins, he confesses and repents and asks for their forgiveness.
He prays for them, and he prays with them.

Dennis knows that on his own he has very little to offer, but with God's Word in his hands -
he offers EVERYTHING to our children.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
II Timothy 3:16-17

How thankful I am that the Lord gifted this man to our five sons,
Micah, Luke, Caleb, Josiah, Isaiah
and our daughter,
He knew they needed each other!
