Celebrating FRIENDSHIP!

I met Julie right before they got the call from the social worker asking if they were willing to take in twins. I believe they said "Yes!" without even thinking! Their hearts were ready, they were fully surrendered to foster care and adoption, and denying two babies who desperately needed care
was not an option.
I remember holding Henry and Grace for the first time. Two teeny tiny babies, one in each arm.
It was sitting in their living room staring into the faces of those sweet babies that the Lord squeezed my heart and said, "Daughter, there are more babies like these. I know there are many things you want to do, but caring for orphans is what I want you to do."
I had no idea how He was going to make that happen, but He knew!
And here we are, five years later ...
caring for these very same children and their little brother who the Guskes took in two years ago,
and serving eleven families in our church who are "visiting orphans in their distress."
I LOVE how the Lord works!

We have been friends for a while now, but this past year changed everything.
Connecting with people through activities, meals, and conversations is a good thing, but when we weep together, serve each other, pray for one another, and walk through the incredibly difficult parts of life that we become bonded to each other.
It is wonderful, it is beautiful, and it is precious.
Just as God intended.

Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10

Lord, thank You for the beauty of friendship, and thank You for the opportunity You gave our family to minister to the Guskes when they needed it most. Your timing is always perfect, and Your purposes are always fulfilled. We know You are not finished with any of us yet, so we look forward to what You have planned for the year to come, and every year after. Protect these children, Lord, continue to provide for this family, and may they draw closer to You every day as they serve, love, and enjoy one another - even on the most difficult days. You chose them for each other! And they are BEAUTIFUL!
