Quote. God's Word.

Never water down the Word of God, preach it in its undiluted sternness,
there must be unflinching loyalty to the Word of God;
but when you come to personal dealings with your fellow man, remember who you are -
not a special being made up in heaven, but a sinner saved by grace.

Welcome - Invited - Wanted!

A few weeks ago we enjoyed a guest Pastor in our pulpit, and I am still being encouraged and challenged by his message. He spoke the truth of Scripture passionately and purposefully, and without shame.
His text: Hebrews 4:14-16
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

I have always treasured this passage because it offers such HOPE.
Jesus is ALIVE!
He is seated at the right hand of the Father - because His work on earth was finished on the Cross.
Jesus was tempted just as we are tempted, and though He never sinned, He understands us!
Because He understands, we can approach Him in the throne room of heaven without fear or shame. We have full access to Him - every day - every hour - whenever we need Him.
This is AMAZING!

I am not going to arrange my notes or make them grammatically correct. I just want to type them here, and pray the Lord will use them to encourage you as you read, and challenge you to dig into the passage on your own to discover the rich and beautiful truths found within the chapter (and book) of Hebrews.

Here we go!

~~ Hold firmly to the faith.
DO NOT LET GO!
DO NOT QUIT!
DO NOT WALK AWAY!

~~ To pray correctly, we need to fully grasp the sympathy of Jesus.
Jesus UNDERSTANDS!
He felt the full power of temptations pull.
He felt it.
But He ALWAYS chose obedience.
He gets it.
He has struggled.
So talk to Him about it!!!
Like Jesus wrestled with God in the Garden of Gethsemane ... WRESTLE WITH GOD.
But know this: You will end the match with the words, "NOT my will, but THY will be done."

"Every sin should remind you to go to God. He is FOR us!"

The solution to sin: COME TO JESUS! He understands!
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are ...

~~ We can and should approach God's presence with confidence.
At the throne we find HOPE. Because He helps us.

Jesus prays for us daily.
Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:34

We are WELCOME at His throne.
He INVITES us to His throne.
He WANTS US at His throne.

Don't hide from Him.
RUN to Him!

Thank You, Father, for ending the need for human intercession when Jesus died on the Cross. HE is the way, the truth, and the life ... leading us directly to You.
How privileged we are to come into Your presence at any moment - because You INVITE us to do so.
You are such a good Father who loves His children.
And thank You that nothing can separate us from Your love!
Teach me how to love like You do. I need You!

Quote.

"Lord, break the chains that hold me to myself;
free me to be Your happy slave—
that is, to be the happy foot washer of anyone today who needs his feet washed, his supper cooked, his faults overlooked, his work commended, his failure forgiven,
his griefs consoled or his button sewed on.
Let me not imagine that my love for You is very great if I am unwilling to do for a human being something very small."
