A Special Day

What a wonderful day my men created for me! We had planned on starting our day at church but Josiah had a cold and would be rejected from the nursery so we decided to keep the whole family together at home. My first gift was ... sleeping in! With four boys I seldom get to sleep past 6 am so the thrill of staying in bed and actually sleeping until 8:00 made my heart go pitter patter. I was awakened by 3 smiling (and one drooling) faces when they called out the beautiful sound of "Happy Mother's Day!"
I want to share the notes they gave to me because in a day when women are quick to cut or insult their husbands (watch any tv show for examples) I want to publicly praise Dennis for his love and commitment to me and our family.

Micah read this card to me ... (penned by my beloved groom)

"Dear Mom,
The positive impact and influence you make in our lives is significant in so many ways. We will have the blessing of knowing our Mother loved God by praying, reading the Bible and living her testimony in front of us every day... took her time to plan and prepare and participate in our education on a daily basis ... took us on outings ... encouraged us to be boys... provided first aid following the "just being boys" adventures ... and assisted us in finding our strengths and individuality. You make our lives rich and full!' We love you!"

Then I was deeply touched when Dennis read his note to me ~

"Dear Michelle,
This past year has been filled with changes: New House, New Friends, New Job, New Baby, New Challenges and now a New Degree. In the midst of all the changes in which we may embark, I am often humbled that you choose to walk alongside me in such a selfless and giving manner. I am grateful for the way in which you make our house a home and the stabilizing force you have been to our boys during this year of change. Your godly influence and willingness to pour yourself into their lives will be credited to you by their wives and children as well. My life is much richer and more fulfilling because you are my wife.
You are my best friend and I love you very much.
Happy Mother's Day.
Love, Dennis

I was then presented with a pair of unexpected and beautiful earrings ... how did I earn such blessings? I LOVE my men!

In the late morning we packed up and headed to a nature center. (It is a new tradition we have (that started last year at the Descanso Gardens in LA.) to fill up my need for being in and enjoying God's creation and grandeur.)

Later that afternoon the boys and I went on a Mom Date to In-N-Out and then to see "Horton Hears A Who" at the theatre. What a SPLENDID day!
